If he accepts though, he becomes a target, as other countries are also in the race to find inhabitable worlds.
Childhood’s End – Arthur C. Clarke
If you haven’t already seen the short TV series, you are in for quite a ride. Childhood’s End is a book about a peaceful Alien invasion that wants to turn the world into Utopia. They end all wars and create a united world government. However, they refuse to reveal themselves, and they run the show from the orbiting space ships.
The Goblin Emperor – Katherine Addison
A half-goblin half-elf boy of royal blood becomes an heir to the throne after his father and three brothers are all killed in a strange airship crash. As he has been raised in exile, fully alienated from his royal heritage, it is extremely difficult to take on the mantel of an emperor. Despite his lack of connections and social polish Maia decides to take his responsibilities head-on and even unravel the mystery surrounding the tragic death of his family.
Ready Player One – Ernest Cline
Ready Player One takes place in a bleak future, where people turned to the ultimate form of escapism, which is a virtual massive multiplayer online game called OASIS. Teenage Wade Watts is a protagonist, and along with his group of friends, he is trying to find an elusive Easter Egg in this massive virtual reality. The stakes are high, as whoever finds the Easter Egg first gets to inherit the ownership rights to the game, and corporations that want to monetize its advertising potential cannot be allowed to claim it. Anyone who loves the 80s will absolutely love the story.
